Welcome to Hancock Elementary School, Home of the Hawks! I am so thankful to be able to serve as the Principal
of Doris Hancock ES. We have a learning community full of wonderful students and dedicated staff members. Our
staff is dedicated to ensuring that your children build a strong academic foundation that will support them
throughout their educational career.
This school year will mark my third year as principal as Hancock ES as well as my 15th year in the Clark County School District. Before my appointment as the Principal of Hancock, I was the Assistant Principal at Hancock ES for two years. Prior to serving as an administrator, I was a classroom teacher in grades 3-5, learning strategist, and interventionist. I have enjoyed each position I have served in as well as all of the school communities where I worked.
I have two M.Ed. degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership) and a B.A. in Communication (Emphasis in Media) and a minor in English Literature from Wheaton College. I am a proud graduate of the Clark County School District. Serving as a teacher and principal has allowed me to give back to our Las Vegas community. I am excited to continue to work with the Hancock community to ensure all students are prepared to meet the changing demands of the university and workforce setting. As a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, I hold his words very closely, “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future” at the forefront of my mind and heart when working with students and staff members to ensure all students’ learning needs are met—both academically and behaviorally.
When I am not working with the Hancock students and staff, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our dog, Percy.
I look forward to working with you this school year to ensure your students have an amazing elementary school experience. Please do not hesitate to stop by the front office, call, or e-mail me with any questions or concerns.
